First Mercy Ships Houston Soirée Smashes Records

What happens when the shipping industry comes together for a cause? Magic. The inaugural Mercy Ships Soirée in Houston, a celebration of the impact of the 2024 Cargo Day initiative, powered by industry giants Stena Bulk, Scorpio Group, and Teekay, kicked off what's set to become an unmissable annual event. Mercy Ships Houston Soirée: $300,000 raised on the night to transform lives in Africa.

Cargo Day 2024 raised a staggering $2.2 million! This incredible feat, fueled by the global shipping community's generosity, means countless lives in Africa can be transformed through vital surgical care.

The evening's spotlight shone on our top Cargo Day 2024 US contributors: US Brokers of the Year Oscar Webb (BRS) and Danny Mulligan (MJLF), alongside US Charterer of the Year Henry Walker (Trafigura).

Special recognition goes to Interlink Maritime and NEU Shipping for their game-changing donations.

There's more!

During the night, our 280+ guests together raised an additional US$300,000 including $50’000 from Michael Loeffel (Lighthouse Chartering), auction winner of the Global Mercy ship model.

Every dollar raised will be matched by Mercy Ships UK partners. Thanks to you, hundreds more children like Fifalina will receive life-saving surgeries.

The first-ever Mercy Ships Cargo Day black-tie event in the U.S., held in Houston last week, was a tremendous success. It’s incredible to see this charity cross the Atlantic and gain such strong support from the shipping industry. With such overwhelming interest, this is just the beginning of something even greater. It was an honour to be in attendance.
